This course is ideal for employees, supervisors, and employers in industries such as construction, manufacturing, and mining who want to mitigate the risks associated with hazardous substances.

Training Fees

  • 9-10 Participants: $1,229.00 per session + HST

  • 13-20 Participants: $1,429.00 per session + HST

  • 21+ Participants: $60 per participant

Course Details

  • Duration: Up to 3 hours

  • Assessment: A passing grade of 75% is required to receive a certificate

  • Completion: Upon successful completion, participants will receive a PDF wall certificate to acknowledge their new skills and knowledge.

  • Workplace Hazards & Health Risks: Understand the health implications of exposure to hazardous substances.

  • Ontario's Regulatory Requirements: A review of OHSA and O. Reg. 490/09 to ensure compliance with the law.

  • Identifying & Assessing Hazards: Learn how to recognize hazardous substances in your workplace and conduct effective risk assessments.

  • Exposure Limits: Understand Workplace Exposure Limits (WELs) and how they guide safe operations.

  • Control Measures: Implement engineering controls, administrative strategies, and PPE best practices to minimize risk.

  • Air Monitoring & Health Surveillance: Learn protocols for air sampling, exposure analysis, and the importance of health monitoring.

  • Substance-Specific Safety Protocols: Safe handling practices for asbestos, silica, lead, and benzene.

  • Legal Obligations: Understand your roles and responsibilities under Ontario’s regulations and how to ensure compliance with the help of Joint Health and Safety Committees (JHSC).

  • Emergency Preparedness: Be prepared with spill and exposure response protocols and post-incident prevention strategies.
